upcon (2)

Who organises Upcon?

Upcon was traditionally organised by students, in other words Tuks Krygspelvereniging (TKV).

As of 2011 Upcon is organised as a joint venture between the GGC and the TKV. To avoid stepping on each other’s toes, tasks are split between the societies. For example, in 2012 the kitchen was run by the TKV while the Geek Auction is a GGC event.

What is Upcon?

Upcon is an acronym for University of Pretoria Convention. It is an annual gaming convention organised by the GGC and Tuks Krygspelvereniging (TKV). The focus of Upcon is on alternative or “non-computer gaming”. What we have instead is animé screening and cosplay competitions, tradable card games, roleplaying modules, and wargaming. Upcon is also known for its variety of stalls.
